Summer learning journey Day 3: (Environment and Exploration)

The task was to interview three friends and ask them what they are most proud of. It could be something that they, or someone in their family, have accomplished. I found it on the site http://www.summerlearningjourney.co.nz and I scrolled under the activity 2. I learnt what my friends are most proud of.I would make this presentation a bit more not plain if I had more time.

Johnson Davis
Orientation
Johnson Davis is a special man to this community but sadly he passed away after a long hard
journey fighting cancer. Johnson Davis was a wonderful man, he would always help out with
anything and do as much as he can for our community. Johnson Davis left a long and admirable
legacy for this community. Johnson Davis wistfully passed away on October the 11th 2019, at the
age of 75. He was much loved by his wife Lisa and father of 4 kids and 5 grand kids.

Family:
Lisa Davis is Johnson's wife and he is a father to  4 lovely kids whose names are
Georgina, John, Darryl and Tina. He is a grandfather to 5 grand kids named Joel, Jason Kowhai,
Opal, Tonja and Tegan.

Getting Awards
Everyone tells others that he’s got a good work ethic and he has made many
contributions to the community. He was so recognised that even a man named R Carter
presented the special community award on behalf of the Far North District Council and
reiterated the special place that Mr Davis would always hold in the life and history of the
Kawakawa Community.

Legacy:
Johnson Davis was special and so important to our community,  he made
an outstanding legacy of contribution to community that will be remembered for years
go on. Not much happened in Kawakawa that Johnson Davis didn ́t have a hand in the
community centre, the Bay of Islands pool, the Hundertwasser park, the community
board, the business association, and much more. When he unfortunately passed at the
age of 75, Fellow railway Trust stalwart Frank Leadley who organised the function detailed
Mr Davis Extraordinary record of service to his Community.

Conclusion
Whether Johnson davis was chairing a meeting or painting a railway carriage, he was always
proud of the work that he pursued. Johnson davis was made with many talents and he would
help out as much as he could. He loved the community and how the community was running.
He did so much for this community and we will love him because of that, he was such a caring,
honest and interesting man that will be loved for eternity.

Summer Learning Journey Day 2: Sports and leisure (Similes)

The task was to get a person on the site and make similes out of them.I found the activity on the site http://www.summerlearningjourney.co.nz. I learnt to go through the site and find the task I´m suppose to go on. Next time I would probably think outside the box and make my task more interesting and fun at the same time.

Maori League Tournament
2 weeks ago the starting of the holidays my league tournament started and it was the first day, on the first day we had to verse three teams Tuhoe, Taranaki, and Bay of plenty. My whole team was so excited and very very nervous... Our first game started and we were playing against Bay of plenty the last time we versed Bay of plenty we won but just by a little and we could not lose this game... the game finished we were so excited that we won we all thought that we were going to lose, we did really well in the first half and then kind of slipped in the second half, we let them get away with 1 or 2 tries and that wasn't good but at least we won...
We had to run after our game to our older teams game to help them out with there Haka.

Our second game we were playing against Tuhoe they looked like they were really hard to play against but we did our Haka and stuck with our strategy and played the game, again we were doing really really well in the first half we were nilling them by 3 or 4 tries and 2 or 3 kicks. The second half started and we were slipping away like we did in the last game we gave away 2 tries but we still won by 5 or 6 tries....

Our third and last game of the day, we versed Taranaki and this game was very important we needed to win. The first half was very challenging we were neck and neck we were in front by a kick, the second half started and we scored a try and got the kick we were still in front by a kick. The man blew the whistle and we won we were in the finals and we couldn't wait for tomorrow because that was our finals day fighting for 1st and 2nd.

We were still versing Taranaki because they were in second place in the tournament, we were coming first so we had to verse them to see who are the champions for the NZ Maori tournament U13s winners...
We versed them it was a really tough game and we were winning by a kick in the first half, in the second half we were winning by a kick and a try. We started to muck around to soak up the time so we make sure we win... We looked at the referee and he blew the whistle the game ended and we were running around and hugging everyone...
We came 1st.

We went to prize giving they gave us our trophy for coming first and then they were announcing the NZ Maori Tournament Team for 2019
They called out a couple of girls and then I heard my name and I was like what the hell I was so surprised I didn't even know that I would've made the tournament team I also had the highest kicking points out of all the teams we versed. I went to go up and we took a photo of the 2019 U13s NZ Maori Tournament Team.

Published Narrative Writing

So for the last 3 or 2 weeks we have been doing a narrative writing in groups of 3 that is based on NZ.We chose to do it based on a movie named switch and have something similar but put a twist on it and do it with Maori vs Pakeha. We had to write a narrative writing and then do a script/storyboard and then make it into a movie.
A gift from santa

2 weeks before Christmas and everyone is celebrating. Kahutia Te Rangi
a young maori girl in a family of 4. Jorjah an American also in a family of 4.
2 different lifestyles. Kahutia Te Rangi, the cultured girl outgoing and always
doing chores, Jorjah, the instagram famous worrying about her follows on
instagram and how they see her.  Not knowing that one day their lives will
change. While watching T.V Kahutia Te Rangi spotted Luxury homes in America.
Oh how she wished to be able to live in those homes. While Kahutia Te Rangi
was dreaming about her dream life, Jorjah is still worrying about her followers

As Kahutia Te Rangi was dreaming she was hoping to live in the life of
being rich and not having to worry about chores then getting free time. While
there was Jorjah up all night worrying about her followers…as Jorjah was
worrying about her followers, she thought to herself I wouldn’t mind having a
vacation and not \having to stress over nothing really. It started getting later
where Kahutia Te Rangi just wanted to change right at that moment, as well
as Jorjah to release the stress. It was getting close to midnight…where at
that moment they had...

SWITCHED LIVES! One fine morning Kahutia te rangi woke up to a luxurious
apartment in LA, she was a bit creeped out that she was in america it was like
her dream came true, funny thing is that it did come true but there was some
defaults to her life. Kahutia te rangi had changed into somebody else’s body…..
Meanwhile Jorjah didn’t know what she was waking up to…..
Jorjah woke up to the worst dream she could ever have in her entire life, but on
top of that she was in a different body.

They both wake up by their bedside there was photos and information such as a
wallet, keys, computer, phone, a book with things about themselves, etc. Both of them
scream and freak out that they don’t know whose body they are in and
where they are. Straight away Kahutia te rangi is living as much as she
can in the body she was given, she thinks Santa gave her an early present
for christmas because of how bad her life has been, but on the other hand
Jorjah is as desperate for her life back more than ever, so she went to go
back to america to get her life back, Kahutia te rangi didn’t really care to look
for the person that has her body, all she wanted was to have a perfect life and
now she does so why would she want to ruin that.

Kahutia te Rangi, and Jorjah remained as friends, best friends even till this day,
they visit each other every Christmas and sometimes they retell they’re magnificent
story to families but make sure they covered it up with other peoples names. They
love calling each other every night it was a part of there night routine if they missed
a night they have to call in the morning then at night. These 2 people that a few
days didn’t know each other became the best of friends. I guess it was meant to be.

Writing

This is my Bee Writing, we got to choose out of three piece of writing that we can put in way to present a bee piece of writing. I did a information report about obviously bees.It was so easy making a information report writing because I always do this type of writing.

BEES

Bees are flying insects exclusively related to wasps and ants. Bees are known
for their role in pollination and, in the case of the best-known bee species, the
western honey bee, for producing honey and beeswax.

Appearance:
Most bees measure up to about 15 mm long or less and are light brown, black,
yellow in color. Honey bees are usually oval-shaped creatures with yellow colors
and brown bands.  Although the body color of honey bees differ between species
and some honey bees have mainly black bodies, almost all honey bees have
ranging dark-to-light channels. Bees have lots of fur on the top bit of its body
and only a little at the bottom, this is used to catch pollen and is essential for
the pollination process. Bees have three body parts (head, thorax, and abdomen).
They also have six legs like most other insects.

Reproduction:
Firstly the queen bee lays an egg in the hive. Day six the larva looks like a little
peanut. Day ten when the larva is fully grown to the top the workers feed the larva
and seals the cell with wax. Day fifteen the bee is starting to grow all his body parts
and is slightly showing color. Day eighteen the bee has got his color it just needs
a few more days to get stronger and break out of its nest, day twenty one comes
out of its nest.

Diet:
Bees are attracted to sugars, and especially are drawn to sugary drinks. Bees
collect pollen and nectar from a different flowering plants, including milkweed,
dandelions, clover, goldenrod and a whole lot of different fruit trees. Bees are
also drawn towards some other little things like soft drinks and frozen treats.

Habitat:
People say that bees live mostly in tropical zones and heavily forested areas.
Honey bees can flourish in natural, though they prefer to live in gardens,
woodlands, orchards, meadows and other areas where flowering plants.

Behavior:
Chemicals that bees and other insects manufacture that effects, or impacts,
behavior of other bees are mainly called pheromones. In honey bees these
chemicals are constructed by the queen, workers, and probably drones.
Bees can actually maintain a close relationship with humans but if a bee
feels unwelcome then Bees protect itself by having a stinger at the end of its body.

Bees are extremely important  and they need to be looked after by us human beings.
This will allow them to do their jobs of producing honey for us and pollinating the worlds
plants. Bees are really good insects, you may say that they are devil insects but it's just that sometimes they feel unwelcome and the only thing that can protect themselves
is to sting people.

Move a-thon

Move a-thon
On Wednesday the year 7 & 8s did a move a-thon to fundraiser for our camp this year that we are going to. A move a-thon is when we had to run the court for 10 hours without stopping it's similar to a run a-thon. We had to run 8am to 6pm it was quite hard at points but then easy at the same time. It was really fun doing the move a-thon.You might say that it isn't easy for one person to just 10 hours straight that's why we had shifts, we got in to 7 groups and ran for 30 mins each group and then after school we played games and kept running around the court. We got a couple of growling's because we weren't doing it properly but that just made us more motivated. Everybody was tired and just felt like going to sleep but we pushed and finished and to be completely honest our feet almost had blisters but at the end of the day it was worth it because we get paid and we can pay off some of the money that we need to pay for our camp.CAN'T WAIT UNTIL WE GO TO CAMP!!

League training
On Sunday I had league training I really didn´t want to go to this training because I was really really tired but I didn´t want to get dropped from the team because their is way to much girls playing in our  team and also we had these two counties manukau NRL players come and train us for that day on defense, how to tackle properly, and Techniques. It was so fun I was so lucky that I went to this training because all we usually do is just run so it´s cool to change things up. The rain started to pour down but that didn´t stop us, It got so muddy I was covered and it was so sore how the texture of the mud will rub up on two bodies. League was really fun.

Netball tournament
Sunday 04/08/19
On Sunday we were having a reps tournament in Whangarei, I was so excited because it was my first reps tournament that I´ve been to. I wasn´t allowed to go to the other two rep tournaments because firstly I was really sick and could barely stand up and then the other tournament I sprained my ankle so this tournament was very exciting. We were standing around and playing waiting until we could play our first game, but then something dumb happened, it turns out that they don´t count scores for yr 7&8. We started to warm up for our first game.We started to play we were doing really good so we decided to count our own scores, we won. We had to wait for another 1 & 1/2 hours before we can play our next game. We started to play our game and then it started to pour down with rain and I mean pour down. We kept mucking up in the game because it was raining so much, and that made us lose. The Kerikeri netball center decided that the tournament will be canceled for us Kerikeri netball teams so we got on the bus and went back home, but the funny thing is, is that the rain started to clear up once we left.

Speech Writing

This is my Speech Writing, We did a speech competition at school and we had to say it in front of the classroom and then the people that win in the classroom competition they go to the ultimate competition and they have to compete against other classrooms in the school.

INTRODUCTION

Boy’s can’t play netball, Girls can’t play rugby, You throw like a girl! Who has heard
these kind of taunt?

Thanks to google, sexism, by definition, is when you discriminate or be abhorrent
towards
a specific gender.

This topic isn’t really close to my heart, it's more like something that came to mind
because I ́ve heard it on the news or I read off social media about people saying
they can’t play this type of sport because of their gender.

WELL SEXISM, what is it? Why does it exist? What does it look and sound like?
What can we do about it? These are the four questions I’m going to answer and
try and persuade all of you people how wrong it is to be sexist.

BODY

We live in a world where there are stereotypes and human beings that disagree with
what people's choices are and that doesn’t fit in their type of world or that are totally
different to there 's.Never waste your time trying to explain who you are to people who
are committed to misunderstanding you & bringing you down.
We judge, but we are yet to forget how we truly feel once is done to us.
We are giving people the opportunity to feel uncertain about what their gender
is and the sport they play.

What is it? Sexism is when people disagree with what other people's choices are towards
playing a sport.

Why does it exist? Because some people in this world don't  know how to deal with
a situation that is completely different to their lifestyle.

What does it look and sound  like? Looks like - Men getting paid more than women.
Sounds like - girls are getting told that there not allowed to play a sport that has boys in
it or that usually has boys playing it, boys can ́t play a sport because girls usually play
it or that boys are always seen to play a manly sport.

What can we do about it? Accept what gender they are and let them play a sport that
they want to play. I know that it’ll take time for all of you people to accept that it is
different to what you expected but it’s life and people like different sports and it’s
there passion.

CONCLUSION

Don’t judge someone just because they sin differently than you, every person in this
world has a story behind them, and they like other things that aren’t really what you
see their gender do.We all have our fair share of sins and yet we judge others for
sinning differently. You will once realize what you have done to people when they do
something out of the blue. It’s never too late to be who you might have been.

This week for my blog post is Weekly 3, so basically weekly 3 is all about math and we get 3 sites then we have to finish the problems that are on the sites.

Saturday Netball
KKPS Magics vs KKHS Saphires
On Saturday was the day when I got really nervous because the people that we were versing were on the on top of the leader board by the goal percentage, but we are winning by no loses. We have versed this team before and we beat them by 9 points I think, but they have up'd there game since last time we versed them.So I was on the court for the whole game and it was tiring because the rain and the wind was strong and I was trying to control myself with the weather getting thrown at us.It was a very good, challenging and interesting game. We won by heaps but it felt like they beat us.
Yay we are winning champs.

BUBZ TOURNAMENT
NETBALL
On Saturday we had a tournament that my coach and her friends/team mates do every year for people to come and have fun play netball basically.
We versed five teams, we were suppose to only verse 3 teams but then we got in the semi finals and then the finals so two extra ones to put on top of the teams we versed. We were do really good throughout the whole tournament and it was really fun i must say. We beat the first team then the second the the third and it felt great we were actually going somewhere in this tournament we got to semi finals and beat that team and after we versed that team we went straight to versing the finalist, we were struggling in the whole game, they were always in front by two or more in each quarter and it was getting to us, we were trying our best but we lost by 5 points it was actually surprising because last year we would always lose by like 20 or 10 points so we weren't that disappointed at least we came runners up and get a prize.
